Awards are marks of acknowledgement honour and respect given to individuals for outstanding and remarkable societal achievements. The government of India bestows these national prizes on individuals for their outstanding achievements or performances in many fields regardless of religion age caste occupation or other factors.

Government awards

Government awards are the national awards in India in which The government of India bestows national prizes on people for remarkable service or success in various fields regardless of age caste occupation religion or other factors. Civilian Awards Gallantry Awards National Sports Awards  and Literary Awards in India are the four main categories under which awards are given in India.

 

Types of Government Awards:

  • Bharat Ratna The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian distinction bestowed by the Indian Republic. The award which was established on January 2 1954 is given in appreciation of "exceptional service/performance of the highest order" without distinction to race occupation status or gender. Source
  • National film Awards The National Film Awards are Indias most prestigious film award ceremony. Along with the International Film Festival of India and the Indian Panorama it was established in 1954 and since 1973 it has been overseen by the Directorate of Film Festivals of the Indian government.   • Rashtriya Puraskar Rashtriya Puraskar is an online platform that the Government of India established on July 27 2022. Through this web portal any Indian citizen can nominate someone for a National Award on a single platform. Source

  • Jeevan Raksha Padak The Jeevan Raksha Padak is an Indian government civilian lifesaving award. The award then known as the Jeevan Raksha Padak Class III was first presented on September 30 1961. Source
  • Gandhi Peace Prize The International Gandhi Peace Prize which honours Mahatma Gandhi is presented by the Indian government. On the occasion of Mohandas Gandhis 125th birth anniversary the Government of India established the International Gandhi Peace Prize in 1995 as a tribute to the values espoused by Gandhi. Source

Social awards are given to individuals or organisations that have made substantial contributions to society by doing acts of humanity or social welfare that have a positive impact on the lives of others.
